1947, artists Henri Goetz and Pablo Picasso approached Henri Sennelier with the idea of designing a professional version of the children's product. Picasso told Henri, "I want a colored pastel that I can paint on anything, wood, paper, canvas, metal, etc. without having to prepare or prime the canvas." Goetz wanted a pastel he could use to start oil paintings. He told Henri, "If painting seems to be the complete of all pictorial techniques, then pastel is certainly the most direct. No instrument as the brush, knife or palette interferes between the artist's gesture and his work." Two years later in 1949, with the help of the two artists, Sennelier invented the first professional oil pastels. They had a creamy consistency with a brilliant color palette. The unusually wide range of grays were chosen specifically by Picasso. Later an assortment of iridescent and metallic pastels was added followed by fluorescents. Sennelier also makes a giant pastel, and more recently a new "Le Grande" size in the same color range as the standards.
Michelangelo was the greatest sculptor of the sixteenth century, as Donatello was in the century before him and Bernini in the century after him. We admire the products of his genius but we less frequently pause to consider the magnitude of the tasks he undertook, the problems he encountered, and the setbacks--even failures--he may have suffered. William A. Churchill was the younger brother of the British Counsel at Zanzibar in the late 1860's. He came for a visit to the Islands bringing only his talent and his sketch pad but these resulted in some remarkable views of early Zanzibar.
Juan Medina is a Latin-American artist born in the Dominican Republic in 1948. He graduated with honors from the National School of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo and from the Mural Studio of Professor Jaime Colson. Since 1974 he is professor in the same school in charge of nude painting and post-graduate studies. He was appointed Director in 2002.

Magritte was born in Lessines, Belgium in 1898. In 1912, his mother committed suicide by drowning herself in the River Sambre. He studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels for two years until 1918. During this time he met Georgette Berger, whom he married in 1922.
Magritte worked in a wallpaper factory, and was a poster and advertisement designer until 1926 when a contract with Galerie la Centaure in Brussels made it possible for him to paint full-time.

Name at birth: Francisco Jose de Goya y Lucientes
Goya is considered the 18th Century's foremost painter and etcher of Spanish culture, known for his realistic scenes of battles, bullfights and human corruption. Goya lived during a time of upheaval in Spain that included war with France, the Inquisition, the rule of Napoleon's brother, Joseph, as the King of Spain and, finally, the reign of the Spanish King Ferdinand VII. Experts proclaim these events -- and Goya's deafness as a result of an illness in 1793 -- as central to understanding Goya's work, which frequently depicts human misery in a satiric and sometimes nightmarish fashion. From the 1770s he was a royal court painter for Charles III and Charles IV, and when Bonaparte took the throne in 1809, Goya swore fealty to the new king. When the crown was restored to Spain's Ferdinand VII (1814), Goya, in spite of his earlier allegiance to the French king, was reinstated as royal painter. After 1824 he lived in self-imposed exile in Bordeaux until his death, reportedly because of political differences with Ferdinand. Over his long career he created hundreds of paintings, etchings, and lithographs, among them Maya Clothed and Maya Nude (1798-1800); Caprichos (1799-82); The Second of May 1808 and The Third of May 1808 (1814); Disasters of War (1810-20); and The Black Paintings (1820-23). Ruud Janssen, born in Tilburg, Netherlands on July 29th 1959. He is an artist, teacher, writer and publisher.
He became active with mail art in 1980 and did several international mail art projects. Publishes articles, magazines and booklets with his TAM-Publications and participates in international mail art projects, collaborations and exhibitions.
Since 1994 he conducts interviews with mail artists in different communication-forms and publishes the results in booklets and on the internet.
Oldrich Kulhanek was born on February 26, 1940 in Prague. Between 1958-64 he studied at the College of Applied Art in Prague in the studio of Prof. Svolinsky. In 1971, Kulhanek was arrested by the Czech KGB and accused of the defamation of representatives of communist countries in his graphic sheets, because he used the face of Stalin in his art from 1968-1971. Thus, he was prohibited from exhibiting his works during the 70's. Nevertheless, his works found their way into the world illegally.
In his short life (1960-1988), Jean-Michel Basquiat came to personify the art scene of the 80s, with its merging of youth culture, money, hype, excess, and self-destruction. And then there was the work, which the public image tended to overshadow: paintings and drawings that conjured up marginal urban black culture and black history, as well as the artist's own conflicted sense of identity.

Por aqui hay un tipo que trabaja en un restaurant y que tiene esta misma mirada. Siempre le dejo su propinita y nunca cambia la cara.
Actualmente estoy dandole el primer review al disco nuevo de Cerati llamado "Ahi Vamos!"
Por lo que he podido notar el disco es mucho mas electrico y no tan electronico como los discos anteriores. El disco me recuerda un poco el sonido de Dynamo y Sueño Stereo para los fanaticos de Soda Stereo. De cualquier forma me ha gustado el trabajo que Cerati ha elaborado en toda su trayectoria. Se puede notar un cambio mas drastico en este disco y creo que este album puede traer de regreso la escena de rock en español que esta un poco lenta en estos momentos.

Ayer 4/2/2006 nos reunimos algunos amigos para compartir en el cumpleaños de la casa de Jose.
El cumpleaños fue uno de esos que solo los famosos pueden darse el lujo de gastar miles de dolares en estas actividades sociales.
Parte de estas actividades destacadas:
***El Bronce Negro*** Este es uno de los cantantes mas aclamados del alto Manhattan quien es destacado por sus pasos de bailes seductores y su dominio de ver sin mirar las chicas que estan a su alrededor.
***La Tia de Jose*** Su especialidad son las costillitas a la BBC y el pernil. Ademas su abilidad de mantener el coro encendio.
***Jose ALIAS Jodonis*** Fue el anfitrion de su propio cumpleaños en el cual debuto como "The Guy With the Maraccas" o mejor dicho maraquista.
